Children’s Ministries

Children are a gift from God. Psalm 127:3 states, “Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him.” There are many more verses in the Bible that reveal God’s love of children. That’s why Morning Star Church places such importance on family-centered messages, its children’s ministry and including children in the praise and worship part of our services. Matthew 21: 15-16 states,

“But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant.

“Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked him.

“Yes,” replied Jesus, “have you never read,

“‘From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise.’”

Children are also allowed to participate in celebrating the Lord’s Supper with communion as long as they know Jesus as their Savior. It is parent responsibility to guide their children during monthly communion as to whether or not to partake in communion.

Our children’s ministries include Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Awana.

Sunday School

Sunday School
Under the direction of Melanie Nunez, a local elementary school teacher, our Sunday School program strives to lead children to the Lord. Members from our church volunteer each week to teach age-appropriate lessons from Kids Sunday School Place. Lessons typically include a quick lesson from Nunez followed by Scripture and discussion by volunteer members. Educational sessions may also include teaching tools such as games, puzzles, activities and more.

Vacation Bible School

Each summer, our members work together to provide a week filled with fun, and themed learning to teach children about the Gospel and to begin their journey to salvation. This annual event is free to children (kindergarten to sixth grade) and the public is invited to attend. Children will learn about God and biblical lessons through stories, crafts, games, music and other fun activities. VBS is held in the evenings between Sunday and Thursday. The week varies each year. Registration is required. Please check our calendar of events to see when to register.

smAwana

Awana
Awana is a national, weekly program that equips leaders to reach kids with the gospel and engages children in long-term discipleship. Held during autumn and winter, this evening program is offered on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. to elementary children (grades 1 to 5). Children can expect weekly lessons, games and scripture memorization.
