The Romans Road

As Christians, you may have heard something called the Romans Road, but what is it exactly? The Romans Road is a “road map” to understanding our sin, realizing that no one could live a good enough life to earn eternal life, and accepting the free gift of salvation provided to us through Jesus Christ.

Not all paths lead to Heaven. In John 14:6, Jesus tells us plainly that he is the ONLY way to eternal life with the Father, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Following the Romans Road should lead you to Jesus. Reading through Scripture, we learn:
1. We’re NOT righteous; we’re sinners. Sin separates us from God.

“There is no one righteous, not even one;” – Romans 3:10

“There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” – Romans 3:23

“Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned” – Romans 5:12

2. Death is the consequence of sin, but God loves us so much that he provides us a way to live.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23

“God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8

3. We get God’s gift of life by faith.

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” – Romans 10:9-13

“All (who accept Jesus) are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” –Romans 3:24
